Barbara’s paintings are often described as enchanting, mysterious, tranquil and fresh. They are paintings that simply make you feel good. With her watercolors she shares a closer look at the environment, its beauty and fragile qualities, finding those qualities in the simplest things.
Barbara earned a BFA in painting and design at the University of Iowa. She also studied at the University of Montana under Professor Mary Warner, a master of watercolorist.
She received the 2022 Sally MacMillan Watercolor Award in the Rock Island Arts Guild Invitational at the Figge Museum, and the first place award in painting in 2023 and 2024, and Best of Show in 2024 at the Spring Beaux Arts Festival in Davenport as well as various other awards and honors in her career.
“My watercolors are inspirations from the environment. They reflect my love for nature; the flora, fauna, peacefulness and serenity I feel there. My style allows me to express my perceptions of nature with bright, vivid colors. I paint nature in a subjective manner while accentuating the patterns, designs and colors in harmonious repetition.”
