Robert Wolf, Painter, Author

Decorah, Iowa

Robert Wolf is a visual artist, journalist, author, and publisher of Free River Press, a nonprofit that provides writing workshops for the unheard voices of America. Wolf has been a columnist and feature writer for the Chicago Tribune, a college instructor, a ranch hand and hobo. He has lived in ten states, in great cities and small towns.

His visual art often depicts the landscape of Northeast Iowa, where he lives with his wife Bonnie Koloc. Several of his nonfiction titles deal with the impact that the industrialization of agriculture has had on rural towns and the means by which they could revive through collective effort.

β€œIn my writing and panting I seek to present something that is true, whether in a vision of the land or my depiction of our rural society.”
