What Happens in a Photography Workshop?
Photography workshops are custom-designed to accommodate the specific interests of the host institution, its student population and its locale. For example, workshops could be a regional study, publication-oriented, or an artistic endeavor, or some combination of each. Workshops may produce black and white or color imagery, and participants may use traditional film cameras or digital equipment.
Students are taught to see in visual terms, to learn the language of photography, and to experience the patience required to accomplish skilled, artistic, and compelling images. Archival preservation and careful respect of the process and final images are emphasized.
A workshop usually results in the public presentation of an exhibit. Other byproducts may include the production of a calendar, poster, note cards, books, brochures, videos, newspapers, mixed and media presentations.
Workshops are custom designed to fit budgets and schedules. Costs are very straight-forward: stipend, supplies, mileage, lodging and food.
